VideoYouTube Keyword Tool Goes Missing

YouTube Keyword Tool Goes Missing

Google replaced YouTube's keyword tool with Display Planner's AdWords video keyword suggestions on September 1, requiring users to access an AdWords account.

Past research by comScore has named YouTube the second largest search engine behind Google, so it is clear optimizing YouTube videos is a must for marketers.

Unfortunately, per a recent Search Engine Roundtable report, YouTube’s keyword tool has gone missing.

The page, however, is still popping up in search results.

For many users this change came as a shock, but they apparently did not get the memo that the YouTube keyword tool would no longer be available as of September 1.

According to Search Engine Land, Google replaced the tool with Display Planner’s AdWords video keyword suggestions. In order to access the new tool, users must have access to an AdWords account.

The new tool takes a little getting used to. Below is a screenshot provided by Search Engine Land that provides a snapshot of how the new tool works for video.

Users will need to enter their keywords, hit “Get Ad Group Ideas,” and then set their filter for video.
