Bing tests image preview overlay in web search results

Bing appears to be testing a new image preview overlay in its search results. Clicking an image opens a side panel with a larger preview, source details and related images, which can also expand into a larger view.

Bing

Microsoft Bing appears to be testing a new image preview overlay in its web search results.

I spotted this variation while checking Bing search results. When a user clicks an image, Bing opens a preview panel on the right-hand side of the page, displaying a larger version of the image along with its source information and related image suggestions.

The preview panel can also expand into a larger overlay, allowing users to view the image in more detail without immediately leaving the search results page.

Here is a video of the image preview experience.

This provides users with another way to explore images while staying within the search experience. It is unclear whether this is a limited test or a wider change to Bing’s image search interface.

Google AI Mode is testing a header that shows only the ‘All’ tab and removes the other tabs, going further than the recent dropdown test and suggesting Google wants users to stay in AI Mode.
