Google +1 Website Button To Launch Tomorrow

After a TechCrunch leak, it has been confirmed that Google +1 will launch tomorrow (June 1st). Webmasters will be readying themselves to add the button. Time to read up on strategic marketing changes that may impact your website!

Website owners will be busy tomorrow, as Danny Sullivan has confirmed that Google will be launching their +1 button for websites tomorrow. No doubt this will be the topic of discussion throughout the cyber world, Google’s ‘Like’ or ‘Tweet This’ button will be a hot implementation as social factors have been shown to impact search result rankings.

TechCrunch was contacted by Google about a story to be held until tomorrow, but one of Google’s partners sent them information about the launch before Google got back to them about the story to be held till tomorrow.

The button had previously been spotted in the national ads Google has been running for Chrome – but when it would be launched was not known until today. Clearspring’s PR company, New Venture Communications, sent the email to TechCrunch.

“Google announced the availability of this button on the Webmaster Central Blog on March 28, fully two days ahead of the +1 launch. Presumably this was to give publishers a chance to get the jump on things, but shortly after Google issued a statement indicating “we’re still working things out and aren’t quite ready for this to be publicly available just yet,” SEW reported earlier.

Was this a response to the heavy advertising Bing has been doing about their integration with Facebook? Is Google hoping to ride in on this new awareness and push to be the top social link for publishers with the hint of it improving their search results?

SEW has already begun preparations to make room for the button and no doubt millions of other sites will have it added in short order.

You will need to have a Google Account to use these buttons – Google wants to make it search more social and to do this they need to know who you are so your followers can see what you are voting for. No one has yet to add a minus button – there are plenty of sites I wish someone had told me to avoid. Maybe that will be coming after the +1 button has had a chance to show its worth.

Google’s content on the button sounds a lot like the Bing commercial. “Sometimes it’s easier to find exactly what you’re looking for when someone you know already found it. Get recommendations for the things that interest you, right when you want them, in your search results.

The next time you’re trying to remember that bed and breakfast your buddy was raving about, or find a great charity to support, a +1 could help you out. Just make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account,” Google noted. Before tomorrow you can sign up for the button here.
