Google's share of the U.S. desktop search market dipped from 67 percent to 65.4 percent from November to December of last year, according to comScore's monthly qSearch analysis.
While Yahoo's share of the U.S. search market was its highest in years, the opposite was true for Google. The change can be attributed to the Yahoo becoming Mozilla's default search engine.
Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser has started regaining its share of the browser market at the expense of rival browsers, particularly Mozilla's Firefox and Google Chrome. Chrome has been losing users and now sits at 18.57 percent of the market.
Google's Chrome browser recently became the most popular system in use on the web, overtaking Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) for the first time, before falling back into second place, due to heavy weekend usage in India, Russia, and Brazil.
The masses seem to be abandoning Internet Explorer in favor of alternatives. The sinking ship used to be sole property of Microsoft until recently, when it appears a change in strategy sprung a few leaks in Mozilla’s boat.
