Google is testing a new design for ads at the bottom of AI Mode responses, replacing the grey background with a white background and black border.

Google Ads

Google appears to be testing a new design for the ads that show up at the bottom of AI Mode responses. Until now, those ads sat on a grey background. In the new version, they have a white background with border.

We spotted the new design ourselves. Here’s a screenshot of the new look:

This comes not long after we covered another change to AI Mode ads, where the ad titles started showing up in blue.

Updated design: The borders have been removed, and ads now display website favicons, names, blue titles, and descriptions, making them look more like traditional SERP results.
