Your Arc tabs need a new home before the browser shuts down on December 22

A separate December 15 deadline applies to account-data requests, and some features won't move to Dia.

Arc users have until December 22 to move their browsing setup before the browser stops working on Mac and Windows. The Browser Company announced the shutdown on October 22 and is directing customers to its replacement browser, Dia.

The company’s farewell announcement sets an earlier deadline for mobile features. Arc Search will lose its AI tools, sign-in and tab syncing on November 23, although a simpler iOS browser will continue to work.

Account records and browser backups have different deadlines

People who want a copy of their personal account records must request it by December 15, according to the shutdown guide. That record covers information such as account details and usage, rather than passwords and browsing history stored on the device.

Arc accounts will be deactivated on December 22, with associated personal data deleted within 30 days. The company also warns that users won’t be able to open the desktop app to reach locally stored browsing data after it closes.

For someone who keeps client research, publishing tools and analytics dashboards in separate Arc Spaces, a saved account record therefore leaves much of the working setup behind. Check that the tabs and logins you depend on are available in the destination browser while Arc can still be opened for comparison.

Dia imports your setup, with some gaps

The migration guide says Dia can import passwords, browsing history, extensions, bookmarks and tabs. Spaces become Profiles and folders become pinned Tab Groups, but nested folders become separate groups because Dia doesn’t support that hierarchy.

Easels and Boosts, Arc’s canvas and website-customization tools, won’t transfer. Neither will saved payment methods or autofill data, so those need separate attention before the switch.

Keep Arc installed until the import finishes. Windows users should close it first to avoid a locked cookies file preventing the transfer, while existing Dia users can select Import from another browser from its menu.

Users choosing a different browser can export their Arc Spaces and tabs as a list of links. On desktop, the export controls sit in Arc’s Advanced settings; the farewell page provides separate Mac, Windows and mobile instructions.

Moving to Dia doesn’t require adopting its AI assistant. The Browser Company says the carried-over browser features are free and AI is optional, leaving users to decide whether those additions belong in their workflow.
