comScore April 2011 Search Engine Market Share
The latest U.S. search engine market share figures from comScore are out, and Bing continued its incremental growth for the eight straight month in April. Bing accounted for more than 14 percent of searches conducted on the five largest search engines, and Yahoo gained back a little ground, in the first full month Yahoo Search Direct was deployed.Here’s a look at the rankings:
- Google search market share fell to 65.4 percent (down from 65.7 percent in March).
- Yahoo grew to 15.9 percent (up from 15.7 percent).
- Bing grew to 14.1 percent (up from 13.9 percent).
- Ask fell to 3 percent (down from 3.1 percent).
- AOL fell to 1.5 percent (down from 1.6 percent).
Out of the 16.2 billion searches conducted in April, Google ranked first with 10.7 billion searches, while Yahoo accounted for 2.6 billion, Bing came in third with 2.3 billion, Ask.com had 491 million, and AOL was last with 248 million.
Bing-powered searches (searches conducted on Bing and Yahoo sites) hit 30 percent, up from 29.6 percent in March. Organic searches powered by Google (Google, Ask, and AOL) accounted for 67.8, down slightly fro 68.2 percent in March.
