Google Launches "News for You" - Personalized News Based on Recommendations
For the past few months, Google has been testing new news layouts in the wild. Today, they announced those tests are now official.
If you’re signed into your Google account, you’ll now see “News for You” under the three “Top Stories” area. The stories in the News for You area are personalized and recommended based upon your Web search history.
There are also options for viewing these articles in various formats. The screens below show standard list view, which lists one story per topic. Or, you can view each topic in groups, either list-style or in columns (also illustrated below).

There’s also a new side bar box, offering recommended “sections.” These recommended sections can be added to your left-column category list with one, simple click.
As usual, you can remove Google’s customized features. To do this, Google suggests not logging into your Google account when visiting Google News, deleting your web history (though, this may take some time before updating), or click on the “Standard U.S. Edition” link at the bottom of Google News. To switch back, log back in and click on “Personalized U.S. Edition.”
