Turn Your Android Phone into a YouTube Remote for any Web TV
YouTube has just released a new app in the Android Marketplace called YouTube Remote. It pairs with Youtube.com/leanback, a web TV friendly interface, so you can use your phone to control what you are watching.
All you need to do is sign into Youtube.com/leanback on your desktop computer or web TV and also sign into Youtube Remote on your Android phone to activate.
Does this give you a sense of the shape of things to come, when web TV is in every household? Everyone carrying their TV channel changer in their pocket (their uploads, favorites and subscriptions) and being able to connect it to anyone else’s TV. Our phone won’t carry just our personal network, it will be our personal TV network and we can carry it anywhere, to watch on any screen that our phone can pair with.
Chilling on the couch may never be the same. Just don’t let your girlfriend sign-in to the web TV with her Youtube account. Oops, did i say that out loud?
