Facebook Under U.S. Judiciary Committee Scrutiny Over Privacy Issues

It looks like Facebook’s efforts to assuage users fears on private data protection did not do too well with U.S. authorities as the company now faces scrutiny by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.

Committee chair John Conyers addressed a letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, requesting information on third-party access to users’ information. “We would appreciate a detailed explanation of the information about Facebook users that your company has provided to third parties without the knowledge of the account holders — particularly in circumstances in which the users did not expressly opt for this kind of information sharing.”

Trying to make good with its communication though, Facebook last Thursday had held a briefing on its new privacy controls for House and Senate staff at Capitol Hill.

What steps do you think Facebook will need to take to finally get out of the eye of the privacy storm?
