Report: Yahoo's Ad Network for Small Publishers Will Launch Tomorrow
A “source” has told Stefanie Olsen at News.com that Yahoo will finally launch its contextual ad network for small publishers and bloggers tomorrow.
Like Google’s service, Yahoo’s self-serve product will display text ads deemed relevant to the content of specific Web pages. Advertisers pay only when a reader clicks on their ads. Yahoo and publishers will split the fees. Yahoo’s new service will differ from Google in that it will add human editorial to the selection of ads for content pages. In comparison, Google’s service relies on technology.
I was just checking the SEW Forums archive and found a post from RustyBrick summarizing Danny’s fireside chat with Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang at the last SES in NYC. One of the things Yang talked about was Yahoo developing “solutions” for small publishers. Well, it looks like the program will launch just in time for SES San Jose next week.
Like I said at the beginning of this post, talk about a Yahoo contextual ad program for small publishers has been going on for a long time. Here are a few key posts.
