Google Local Gains Tools For Businesses

Just launched, the new Google Local Business Center allows US business to find their their listings in Google Local (such as
this one for Hotties
Pizza
in a search for pizza 92663) and make edits to it. It also allows
those not already listed in Google Local to gain new listings.

The key to the new system is a PIN code that Google says will be mailed to the business’s bricks-and-mortar address. Once you’ve gained a PIN, you’ll be able to add or edit
things like your address, phone number, hours of operation, type of cuisine, web address and email contact.

Information about the new system doesn’t appear to yet be added to Google Local help information, but watch that area, and I’m sure it will be added soon.

Google Local listings recently gained additional details, as covered more in our Enhancements Made to Google
Local post.

Postscript: As a reminder, Yahoo Local offers a similar business editing feature covered more here: Yahoo Bolsters Local Search Business Listings.
