Reddit gives the communities you chose a feed of their own

Reddit is giving you a separate feed for posts from communities you’ve joined, so you can catch up without recommendations from other communities mixed in.

The company announced a global rollout of its For You and Following feeds on October 28. It will take several weeks, so you may not see the choice immediately.

Your chosen communities get their own space

Following shows posts from communities you have joined. For You combines those posts with recommendations based on your interests, leaving you a place to discover groups you haven’t found yet.

If you use Reddit to track discussions in a handful of specialist communities, Following gives you a more focused starting point. You can switch to For You when you want to look beyond that list.

Reddit also remembers which feed you last used. Leave it on Following and that is where you’ll return when you next open Reddit.

The broader rollout follows an earlier test

Reddit’s September changelog described a small global experiment that began on September 2. The company added the remembered preference after feedback on an earlier version, so some users will already recognize the two tabs.

The announcement does not promise that Following is chronological or ad-free. Its stated difference is which communities supply the posts.

Reddit also plans further experiments with navigation and controls for hiding posts or seeing less of particular content. It has not given those experiments a rollout date.
