Google is using the festive shopping season to bring more users to try AI Mode. The company is showing a new promotional prompt on its Search homepage that asks, “Looking for the perfect festive gift?”
The prompt says users can get “smart, curated ideas and compare prices with AI Mode,” with “No thanks” and “Try now” options.
Clicking “Try now” opens AI Mode with a prefilled prompt asking Google to suggest festive gift options and show where users can compare prices.
AI Mode begins by suggesting gift categories, including gourmet and wellness hampers, traditional art, home decor, smart wearables, and gadgets. Users can then ask for more specific recommendations based on their budget and preferred categories.
In our testing, AI Mode generated product recommendations for the Indian market, complete with prices from different retailers, shopping links, and visual product carousels. Clicking a product took us to its respective shopping page.
Google has already outlined its plans for AI-powered shopping in India. In an April announcement, the company detailed how AI Mode and Gemini can help shoppers discover products, compare prices, and find suitable options. The new homepage prompt brings that shopping experience directly to Google Search users during the festive season.
