TGIF: Classic Video of Google Meeting from 1999
Video posted this week offers a trip back in time to the early startup days of Google. The vintage footage, posted by ex-Googler Doug Edwards, who was director of consumer marketing and brand management for Google from 1999 to 2005, offers a look at one of Google’s unstructured all-staff meetings from December 1999 run by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
“Ad libbed remarks. New hire introductions. The board of directors presentation. Lame jokes. Off-key singing. Birthday cake. Silly string,” Edwards wrote on the Xooglers blog.
Fair warning: this is footage of engineers, so don’t expect “The Office.” Also, the sound quality isn’t the best. Despite that, it’s an interesting look back at Google.
