Facebook vs. Toilets: Facebook Wins [Study]

facebook-toilet-paperA study from the London Science Museum shows that Brits would have real trouble living without Facebook. In fact, they’d rather live without flushing toilets, central heating, air conditioning, pain killers, vacuum cleaners, and shoes.

The study was conducted as a way to prove how important clean drinking water is. While drinking water did rank third, the LSM didn’t prove quite the point they were going for.

For one, the number two item – right below sunshine – was an Internet connection. And the way people used that Internet connection most seems to be Facebooking. Facebook came in fifth, just short of fridges.

Google made it to the list as well, ranking at number 22, just above “a car” and right below “fresh fruit.” Twitter also made it on at the very bottom of the list, behind the Xbox.

Other notable tech items on the list included mobile phones, which ranked 10th, above washing machines and showers (people would apparently rather be connected than clean); flat screen TVs, which ranked 31st, right above “wedding ring” (which could explain the high divorce rate); and laptops, which as the number 26 item managed to outrank chocolate.
