Last week, Yahoo celebrated its 10th birthday. At SES, Danny surprised Chief Yahoo Jerry Yang with a birthday cake in front of 2000 people, and later that night Yahoo threw a birthday bash at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan (and gave everyone who attended a couple of stylin’ engraved martini glasses).
Online, Yahoo has created Yahoo! Netrospective: 10 years, 100 moments of the Web—a seriously cool single page highlighting key events for the company and the web. Click on a thumbnail image or its description, and a pane opens up showing a larger picture describing the event. It’s a fast, easy-to-use and fun way to quickly scan ten years of history.
Hey, Yahoo – how about creating a search result page using the same technology for us to play with? 100 results, all above the fold, showing thumbnails of web pages. Click the thumbnail and show the title and description of the site. Now that would generate some serious attention.
