Gates Keynoting CES - And So Are Semel & Page
Last year I talked about the idea of
consumer
search and how search engines that traditionally offered web search were
making the leap into being our search utilities companies or our consumer search
providers, giving us search wherever it is needed. Web search in the browser, TV
search in our digital TV appliances, music search in our MP3 players — you name
it, the search engines are heading there.
Enter the Consumer
Electronics Show, the big annual event that happens next month in Las Vegas.
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates will be giving a keynote as you might expect.
Microsoft does plenty of consumer electronics. But showing how search is
muscling into the wider consumer world, keynotes are also being given by Yahoo
chairman Terry Semel and yes, Google cofounder Larry Page. You’ll find all the
keynotes here.
Consumer search hasn’t just yet arrived. The leaders of the search engine
industry are now trumpeting it to the consumer electronics world.
