Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen believes that most of the Silicon Valley tech giants have built their businesses around technology that he owns the patents on. A Seattle district court judge disagreed, and Friday dismissed Allen’s complaint against 11 corporations, including Google and AOL.
Google and AOL argued the suit was too vague, with Google arguing that Allen failed to identify how Google has infringed on his patents from Interval Licensing, the underlying technology at issue, and the products or services offered by Google that are alleged to infringe.
The court found that the suit “lacks adequate factual detail” and “fails to provide sufficient factual detail.”
Allen can refile file an amended complaint by no later than December 28.
