Yandex Adding Facebook Updates to Search Index
Russia’s top search engine Yandex will begin integrating Facebook data into its index, the companies announced yesterday.
In an effort to boost indexing, Facebook will provide Yandex with a syndication feed that will gather information on Facebook Pages updates and newly created Facebook profiles of public figures, businesses, or organizations. This information will be added into Yandex’s blog search index.
This is different from the Facebook-Bing deal, which shows personalized search results based on what your friends Like.
Yandex will also display a Facebook widget on its front page. Yandex’s instant messaging service, Ya.Online, will inform users of new notifications on Facebook’s site.
This deal appears to only be for the Russian search engine, not the international site.
