Early-on one of the differentiators of WLL (beyond Birds Eye photography) was the ability to annotate maps and create "personalized mashups" with the scratch pad that can show multiple layers on the map (e.g.favorite London hotels + restaurants, etc.
I also would not be the least bit suprised to see Microsoft partner with others or simply promote their own products using Windows Live Local (WLL) both the aerial and the bird's eye imagery that WLL offers.
