Snoopy: The DuckDuckGo Logo for Charles M. Schulz’s Birthday

Snoopy is hanging out with a bird of a different feather today. Rather than his traditional playmate, Woodstock, Snoopy appears with Dax, the mascot of upstart search engine DuckDuckGo to honor Charles M. Schulz, born on this date 90 years ago.

Schulz created the iconic comic strip “Peanuts”. In total, 17,897 strips appeared in newspapers between 1950 to 2000. The “Peanuts” characters also appeared in numerous television specials, which won two Peabody Awards and four Emmy Awards.

DuckDuckGo, like Google, occasionally changes its homepage logo for special occasions. At least Google isn’t enforcing it’s Google Doodle patent on the small search engine – at least not yet. Should that day come, it will be a dark and stormy night.

Snoopy (along with Woodstock) has also appeared in a Google Doodle, for Thanksgiving in 2009:
