Google Drive Adds Google+ Sharing Functions

Google has announced another upgrade to its Google Drive storage and sharing tool that will allow users to post information directly into their Google+ accounts to share information such as presentations, PDFs, videos and other data with colleagues.

Google plusGoogle has announced another upgrade to its Google Drive storage and sharing tool that will allow users to post information directly into their Google+ accounts to share with colleagues.

The firm said this would help improve collaboration among organizations by letting workers more easily share information such as presentations, PDFs, videos and other data, but restrictions can still be placed on data to stop sensitive information being shared.

“Forms shared in the stream, like feedback surveys or lunch order polls, are interactive as well and can be completed with just a couple of clicks,” Google software engineer Li-Wei Lee wrote in a Google+ post. “If you use Google Apps for Business, Education or Government you can make the post restricted to ensure that the discussion is only visible to people in your organisation.”

Li-Wei Lee confirmed the update is available from Thursday for users of the services.

The update is the latest improvement announced by Google to its growing raft of consumer and business tools, with Gmail set to receive an update to allow users to have the compose message box run as a pop-out so other emails and information can be accessed while writing.

The firm also recently announced plans to trial a merging of its Gmail service with a mix of calendar information, Google Drive files and messages within emails to try to boost productivity.
