Google has released an updated version of the +1 button that displays social recommendations for other content on the same site when a user mouses over the button.
Developers and web publishers don’t need to update their code, as the update went out automatically to all active buttons.
Users needn’t be signed in to a Google account to see the +1 recommendations, which are designed to help readers discover new content on the same domain or subdomain.
The feature was first introduced at Google I/O two weeks ago and was rolled out to all users on July 9.
“After a few productive weeks in platform preview, we’re rolling out +1 recommendations to all users today,” according to an update to their previously published post ‘Launching Google +1 Recommendations Across the Web’ on the Google+ Developers Blog. “Thanks for your feedback at Google I/O, in the discussion forums, and on our Google+ page. We’re always eager to hear from you – so keep it coming.”
