Google Maps and Their Data Providers
over at O’Reilly Radar looks at how for
Google Maps, data comes from NAVTEQ while the Google Maps API draws from
TeleAtlas data. Why? The assumption is that Google can’t get the agreement
needed from NAVTEQ. Both Yahoo and MSN make use of NAVTEQ for in both web and
API presentation of map data, and that might be tied into commercial products.
