China's Baidu Set For International Expansion

Baidu landing page.JPG China’s main search engine Baidu is ready to expand beyond its domestic market, CEO Robin Li said.

“Going forward I think we should make this kind of move as early as possible,” Li said. “During the next five to 15 years we should see some meaningful revenue outside of China.” He did not provide details on either deal sizes or specific geographical locations. What he told PC World is that Baidu has a “revolutionary” product in the pipeline. However, he did not elaborate on whether the product was a browser or a mobile OS. At the beginning of last month, Baidu had stated its intention to go head hunting directly on Google territory – i.e. in the Silicon Valley. Baidu has 70% of the search market in China, while rival Google has 24%.
