New in Google Search Results: Stores and Types

Google began highlighting brand names related to search queries in May. Now they have added links to stores and types in their related searches for some product search queries.

These links don't take you to the official website of these big brands and corporations. Rather, clicking on these links takes you to another page of Google search results.

For example, a search for [chocolate] returns this result:

A search for [running shoes]

A search for [television]

A search for [computer]

Google said these results are unpaid and ranked algorithmically to help users find what they're looking for quicker and more easily.

Also, interestingly, as a result of last week's Places search update, now a search for [computer] also brings up a map of local businesses selling and repairing computers on the right, essentially fulfilling searchers' needs without any need to scroll or, in theory, even go beyond page 1:

Further proof that location information is more critical than ever.
