Losing Job At Yahoo, MySpace? Macy's Is Hiring

Seems e-commerce is hiring, and some big online companies are firing Employees being cut at Yahoo and MySpace may be able to find the right fit amongst the 725 openings at Macy’s online department.

“Macy’s, which has about 161,000 employees, expects to add the positions in New York and San Francisco to expand macys.com and bloomingdales.com. The retailer has also boosted its office space in both cities,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

Former Yahoo employees close to San Francisco and soon to be ex-MySpacers in New York could be in luck. “Out of the 725 new jobs, 375 will be located in Manhattan, with the others divided between San Francisco and Atlanta,” the New York Observer noted

Yahoo announced it was laying off 650 employees in December, but rumors suggest the number could be much higher in the new year.

Meanwhile, MySpace is set to layoff nearly half of its 1,100 workforce, Fox News reported.

“In the quarter ended Sept. 30, the News Corp. unit that includes MySpace reported an operating loss of $156 million, primarily due to the site’s poor performance. News Corp. said search and advertising revenues at MySpace declined $70 million in the quarter compared to the same period a year earlier,” the Wall Street Journal noted.
