The Answer to Your Hiring Problems
If used correctly with thought behind it, you will find the exact right fit for your company. LinkedIn's tool can be useful to find paid interns and entry-level employees in a number of disciplines.
I can attest to how well the service works because I just hired a new executive assistant in the last month using the LinkedIn Student Job Search tool. Before hiring this person, I had literally gone every route you could imagine in an attempt to find the ideal candidate.
I had hired and trained interns to groom into a more stable position, paid for and managed virtual assistants, hired part-time talent – all outside of LinkedIn. Primarily I had found my entry-level and part-time talent initially through standard sources: network referrals, Craigslist, Elance, Guru – even employer networks at NYU, Columbia, Baruch, and many others.
The hiring process was fraught with issues: misrepresentation of skills, unreliable people, laziness, time wasters, and the list goes on. Within 48 hours of posting my recruitment ad for a marketing assistant on LinkedIn, I received over 100 resumes and had to close my ad because there were so many great candidates.
The talent and professionalism of these university graduates was unbelievable. Many of them had complete LinkedIn profiles, and many included a solid cover letter to accompany their resume and profile.
By my 10th interview, I found the exact person I was seeking. She is now close to completing her first month of work and I couldn't be more ecstatic.

For job-seekers right out of college, using LinkedIn and being in the University job search results is the best way to establish professional credibility, particularly when you have little or no professional experience and want to have your profile recognized. Out of those applications, I heard back from six, from those six I interviewed with three.

I was interviewing with a big company at the time that had found me on LinkedIn when my current boss contacted me for an interview. After several leads that fell through, and even more unanswered emails – I was very encouraged about the recent turn of events. The interview went great, and I love my job.
