google-germany-reunification-doodle-2008Google is continuing to dish out penalties as it wages war on link networks around the world.

After repeated warnings in recent weeks, Google revealed it took action against a German agency's link network, as well as its clients.

The head of Google's Webspam Team Matt Cutts made the announcement on Twitter. However, unlike other recent announcements, Cutts didn't reveal which agency was penalized.

This week we took action on a German agency's link network/clients. More to come in Germany.

After Google took action against the French link network Buzzea at the end of January, Cutts also made a comment that Germany was on the radar for being next up in their link network penalty.

Cutts followed that up with a tweet pointing webmasters to a post on the German Webmaster Central Blog. It warned webmasters about the dangers of buying links that pass PageRank and what they should do if they receive an unnatural link warning in their Webmaster Tools console.

There has been speculation over which agency was penalized, however no agency has come forward to comment about the penalty.
