google logo search engine seoGoogle has released its overview of what people in the UK concerned themselves with during the past year, and naturally it is a mixed bag.

The top searches of the year were for football competition, Euro 2012, the late singer Whitney Houston, ubiquitous techno nightmare “Gangnam Style”, and the latest Bond movie “Skyfall”.

Top trend of all was the aforementioned football competition, London was the most searched for city in Google Maps, Stella McCartney was the top trending designer, and Gangnam Style was the top trending song.

Top of the local Olympian tree is Andy Murray, who took gold there, won the U.S. Open and was the most searched for in Olympic sports. His peer in the cycling, Victoria Pendleton won the most searched for reality television personality for her part in “Celebrity Come Dancing”. Usain Bolt was the most searched for Global Olympian.

Jeremy Hunt was the top trending politician of 2012, and was supported in second place by London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Children’s TV show Mike the Knight was top of the TV slot overall and beat off the drama “Homeland” and cake cooking show “Bake Off”.

The most searched for local place is a hotel, and the big “what is…” and “how to…” searches include “Love” and “Kiss” and “Flirt”.

How to meditate was in there too, which is good as it shows that people were trying to calm down at least.
