NetVisualize Favorites Organizer is a bookmark manager with an interesting twist: In addition to storing URLs, it also captures a thumbnail image of each of your favorite pages.
When your collection of web bookmarks has grown into the thousands, it's difficult to impossible to remember what they all point to. Organizing favorites into folders helps by adding a certain degree of categorization, but often you're never really sure about a page unless you click on the bookmark and open it up in your browser.
NetVisualize Favorites Organizer helps solve that problem by storing a thumbnail image of each of your favorites. The image can often give you an immediate clue about the page's content.
Better yet, you can click on the thumbnail to enlarge it, allowing you to see a snapshot of the page without having to click through to download it. This is especially useful when you're offline, or using a slow internet connection.
You can also view all of your bookmarks in a thumbnail image directory. Each image is a "live" bookmark; clicking on an image open its underlying web page in your browser.
In addition to its powerful image capabilities, NetVisualize Favorites Organizer has all of the features you'd expect in a good bookmark manager. It offers hierarchical link organization, extensive URL drag and drop support (both from your browser's address window, and between your favorites folders), and numerous folder management commands.
The program has full import and export compatibility with Internet Explorer and Netscape, allowing you to immediately begin using your existing bookmarks. You can also set the program to automatically synch with your browser, either on exiting the program or at specified time intervals.
Want to share your favorites? You can email selected links with a click of a button.
For users with lots of bookmarks, the program has a match and merge capability for managing duplicate links. Link checking is performed every time you select the "refresh thumbnail image" command.
For each favorite, you can also add your own notes, and give the page a rating from 1 to 10 using a simple slider above the thumbnail.
NetVisualize offers powerful searching capabilities for your favorites. You can search by title or URL, rating or notes, and limit your searches using wildcards, all query words, any query words or exact phrases.
The program also includes some useful network tools, including ping, traceroute, and a DNS lookup utility. These can help you diagnose potential network problems if a particular favorite isn't responding as expected.
NetVisualize Favorites Organizer is currently available in a freeware version (NetVisualize Favorites Organizer Free) as well as a version that can be purchased for $34.95 USD (NetVisualize Favorites Organizer Plus). NetVisualize Free includes a built-in 30-day evaluation version of NetVisualize Plus.
If you've got a lot of bookmarks, NetVisualize Favorites Organizer is an excellent tool for helping you organize, search, and see your favorite web content from a single, unobtrusive control console.
