Google Desktop Does Not Follow Moved Files
MercuryNews.com reportson a problem in Google Desktop software. When you move a file from a location on your computer to a different location, Google Desktop reportedly does not track that move. So if you search on a file that was moved, after installing Google Desktop, the file will not be correctly presented to you. The problem is, Google Desktop indexes all your files when it is first installed, then it indexes any new files added, but it does not update the index for files that are moved from location to location. The only solution I am aware of is to delete Google Desktop and then reinstall it from scratch - this way Google Desktop indexes your files all over again.
GDrive; Google's Virtual Hard Drive
At Google Annual Analyst Day there was a slide or two on the presentation that showed evidence of Google creating GDrive; a virtual location to store your files without using a Gmail hack. Greg Linden said Google has removed the revealing notes with slides (PDF) of the presentation. But Derrick posted a commentwith the notes for those slides at Greg's blog, where GDrive is mentioned.

Search Hypergrowth Over; But Search Growth Continues
Rebecca Lieb from ClickZ has wrote an excellent article named Is Search Shrinking?In her article she discusses some of the recent concern over Google's CFO, George Reyes statement, "Clearly our growth rates are slowing."
Rebecca explains that search as an industry is "maturing" and that we are "moving out of a period of hypergrowth." But the industry is not dead, far from it she says. We have contextual ads, local search market, all the social network applications and much more that is still in its infancy. Search ad growth may be not growing at the exponential numbers like it once was, but it will continue to grow.
Google Sitemaps Adds Top Keyword Positions, Top Mobile Queries and CSV Downloads
Google Sitemaps has announced the ability to see your average position for search queries, top search queries from mobile devices and the ability to now download "details, stats, and errors" to a CSV file that you can then do what you like with it. More details at Google Sitemaps Blog.
MSN AdCenter Offering an Open Sign Up For Advertisers
The MSN AdCenterteam announced they are offering a brief open sign up period for potential advertisers to get an AdCenter pilot account without having to wait for a formal invite or the larger release in June. The open sign up period lasts for only three hours beginning at 9am PST on Monday March 6, and people will be able to signup and begin creating campaigns right away.
