Lycos Europe Launches New Version Of HotBot

Lycos Europe today launched a new version of its professional search engine HotBot with a new lean design and navigation concept that has been adapted from the US version.

By bringing together the best results from the Web’s most popular search engines, the new Dogpile offers a fast way to search as much as 50% more of the Web than any single engine.

Findwhat.Com Announces Plans To Acquire Miva Corporation

Findwhat.com today announced plans to acquire privately-owned Miva Corporation, a supplier of e-commerce software and services to small and medium-sized businesses, for $5.5 million, plus the assumption of approximately $2.5 million in notes and other liabilities.

Vivisimo Announces Release 4.0 of its Clustering Engine

Vivmsimo today announced the upcoming Release 4.0 of its award-winning Clustering Engine, which organizes internet or intranet search results on the fly into meaningful folders.

Today, Google announced new enhancements to Froogle. New features include Sort by price,View by picture and simplified navigation.

InfoSpace.com Re-Launches As Dedicated Yellow and White Pages Destination Site

The new site was built from the ground up with end users in mind and seeks to make it as fast and easy as possible to locate and research businesses and to find people.

Intasys to Focus Exclusively on Mamma.com

Intasys Corporation announced that it had received and accepted, subject to completion of due diligence, an offer for the sale of its wireless billing subsidiaries, Intasys Billing Technologies in order to concentrate exclusively on its meta-search engine and on-line marketing business, Mamma.com Inc.

Overture Launches in the Netherlands

As part of its entry into the Dutch market, Overture also announced it has signed search distribution agreements with portals including MSN, Lycos, HotBot, 1stekeuze, a large Dutch portal, as well as Ixquick, a meta search engine.

Overture Launches in Spain

At launch, Overture’s Spanish distribution partners include sites such as MSN, Tiscali, Lycos, Excite, Wanadoo, and Ya, a Spanish Internet Service Provider. In addition to its core paid placement product, Overture will be providing the Wanadoo Group in Spain with Web Search results from FAST.

FindWhat.com Renegotiating Merger with Espotting

FindWhat.com and Espotting are engaged in negotiations as a result of FindWhat.com’s post-signing examination of Espotting’s historical and projected financial performance. As a result of its examination, FindWhat.com is retracting all previous statements it has made regarding Espotting’s historical and projected financial performance.

DealTime Relaunches as Shopping.com

DealTime today officially became Shopping.com, reflecting the complete integration of DealTime and Epinions into a single site.

Moreover Technologies Launches Enterprise-Grade Weblog Search

The product harvests information from over 25,000 hand selected, business-critical weblogs in real-time and enables corporate users to gain access to news, commentary and consumer opinion that resides within weblogs.

Yahoo Introduces Product Search

Yahoo Shopping is now integrated with Yahoo Search and has been completely redesigned with a new focus on comparison-shopping.

FindWhat.Com Expands into Asia Through Relationship with Mitsui In Japan

Under the terms of the revenue-sharing-based licensing agreement, FindWhat.com is to provide the technology and business operations expertise for Mitsui to launch a new keyword-targeted paid listings service in Japan. The service will employ the existing infrastructure and systems at FindWhat.com, which have been enhanced to accommodate the needs of international partners, including language differences.

Google Launches Search and Advertising Program in Spain

Google now has 21 offices worldwide and more than 150,000 advertisers participating in the Google AdWords program. Google also announced the launch of www.google.es, the country domain for Google Spain, and the Google Toolbar 2.0 in Spanish.

Google Acquires Kaltix Corp.

Google Inc. today announced it acquired Kaltix Corp., a Palo Alto, Calif.-based search technology start-up. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lycos Selects Google AdSense for Content Ads

Google will provide contextually-targeted ads to pages of Terra Lycos U.S. properties including Angelfire, HotWired, Lycos.com, Matchmaker, Quote, Raging Bull, Terra.com, Tripod, Webmonkey, WhoWhere and Wired.
