Teoma has introduced the Teoma Search Bar, a free online navigational tool that lets you search Teoma.com while viewing any web page with Internet Explorer.
Similar to toolbars offered by Google, Yahoo and others, the Teoma Toolbar gives you instant access to the Teoma search engine without having to visit its home page. Simply type your query into the toolbar search box, and you'll be presented with Teoma's unique "three part" search results: Results, Refine, and Resources.
"Results" are links to of relevant Web pages, "Refine" links are suggestions for refining or narrowing your search, and "Resources" are links to directories from experts and enthusiasts.
The toolbar offers several other features. These include:
- Highlight. Clicking the "Highlight" button will highlight all your search terms in up to six different colors on the search results page. If you elect to keep the "Highlight" turned on, it will highlight those search terms on all Web (HTML) pages, whether they are accessed through the Teoma Search Bar, your web browser, or other sources. The highlight feature is a toggle switch that may be turned "on" or "off" simply by clicking on it.
- Dictionary. Dictionary allows you to perform a dictionary look-up, by entering a word into the search box and clicking the "search dictionary" button. Results are from the Merriam-Webster OnLine dictionary.
- Email this page to a friend. This feature that lets you email any web page along with a personal message with a click of a button.
The Teoma Toolbar is designed to support "dynamic upgrades." This means that whenever additional features or functionality are made available, they will be automatically added as non-active options to the search bar.
Teoma's offering is similar to the Google toolbar, though with far fewer features. Although the email web page feature is unique to the Teoma Toolbar, for most people this probably is not useful enough in its own right to warrant downloading and installing the utility. The main reason you'd want to install the Teoma Toolbar is if you're a fan of Teoma's search results and are currently using it as your primary search engine.
Download the Teoma Toolbar. Requires Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP and Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher .
