New at Google
Google spokesperson David Krane sent along this news of recent developments at the Googleplex:
Google released a new Google Groups feature -- enhanced thread view capabilities. The ability to view the structure and flow of a newsgroup conversation is critical to a successful and efficient Usenet browsing experience.
Google Groups users now have direct access to each message in a thread, from a hierarchical list of links to the left of the screen. This improvement enables faster browsing of Usenet conversations, and enables users to directly jump to a message from a particular author, as opposed to scrolling through an entire page of individual postings.
Google Groups users now also have access to the original, detailed header information for each posting. Message headers reveal such information as message ID#, the original posting host, and X-complaints information for abusive postings. To see detailed header information for a particular posting contained in the Google Groups archive, select "view article only," then select "original format."
Both of these features were suggested by a number of loyal Google Groups users.
Separately, Google also released four new interface languages today, including Frisian, Latvian, Slovenian and Slovak. This brings our interface language support to a total of 64 languages.
Search Headlines
NOTE: Article links often change. In case of a bad link, use the publication's search facility, which most have, and search for the headline.
