Yahoo says: We’ve got 20 billion
Looks like we might have a search engine total size wars beginning.
As I’ve said in the past total size numbers are primarily used for marketing purposes, bragging rights if you like. Michael Liedtke from the AP reports that Yahoo is announcing a total size count. The number Yahoo is announcing is 20 billion “web objects.” Total “web objects” is a combination of total web pages and total images, and other content.

Lawsuit Claims Google Overcharged Advertisers
According to this Reuters story, Google sued over claims of excess advertising fees, “Google Inc. is being sued over accusations that it overcharged advertisers who use the Web search giant’s paid search advertising program…The proposed class-action suit, filed on August 3 in State Superior Court in Santa Clara, California, accuses Google of charging in excess of advertisers’ “daily budgets,” under which Google allows an advertiser to limit how much it spends each day.”
Report: Yahoo’s Ad Network Going Live
A “source” has told Stefanie Olsen at News.com that Yahoo will finally launch its contextual ad network for small publishers and bloggers tomorrow.
“Like Google’s service, Yahoo’s self-serve product will display text ads deemed relevant to the content of specific Web pages. Advertisers pay only when a reader clicks on their ads. Yahoo and publishers will split the fees. Yahoo’s new service will differ from Google in that it will add human editorial to the selection of ads for content pages. In comparison, Google’s service relies on technology.”

Google To Acquire Location-Based, Social Networking Service
InternetNews.com’s, reports that later this week Google will announce the acquisition of Meetroduction.
This is Google’s second acquistion in the social networking/location-based services space in recent months. In May, Google acquired dodgeball.com, a service that allows users to find “friends” and new friends using text messaging.
