This just announced partnership is similar to one that Yahoo! has had with SBC (a telephone company) since 2002. Yahoo will provide Verizon's DSL customers (as well as users of their upcoming fiber-to-the-home service) with, "greater e-mail storage, video and radio as well as access to a cobranded home page."
