It's all in a name.
Via GB, word that Yahoo has renamed their Konfabulator (see: Puzzled by Yahoo's Konfabulator Purchase? Don't Be) widgets service (aka quick to download, easy to use apps that are downloaded to your Mac or PC) to Yahoo Widgets and at the same time released a new engine (Yahoo Widget Engine 3.0) that powers the widgets.
You can find more than 1600 of widgets (a few that I've been using lately and hope to write about soon) here on the Yahoo Widgets Gallery. Note to Yahoo: Don't forget to change the name on the gallery of widgets found on this page to Yahoo Widget Engine. If you're interested, here are a just a few of the widgets I have on my computer right now. Their names give a good clue to what they offer:
+ Car Rental Widget (New)
+ WiFi Watcher
+ FoneLookup
+ Stormy Weather
Again, if/when thing slowdown a bit, I hope to write more about Yahoo Widgets and perhaps even offer a widget of the week.
