Cyber Monday Started on Black Friday for Amazon.com

According to Experian Hitwise, Amazon.com was the top visited retail site on Black Friday 2009. Retail traffic to Amazon.com was up 22% on Black Friday 2009 versus Black Friday 2008. Apparently, some people didn’t wait for Cyber Monday to start their online shopping for the holidays. ‏

Amazon.com received 13.6 percent of U.S. visits among the top 500 Retail Web sites. This is the second year in a row that Amazon was the top visited site on Black Friday.

Wal-Mart was the second most visited with 11.2 percent of visits followed by Target with 5.7 perecnt, BestBuy with 4.6 percent, and Sears with 3.0 percent.
