Peter Morville Named Keynote Speaker for SES Toronto 2010

Search Engine Strategies (SES) announced this morning that Peter Morville will be one of the keynote speakers for SES Toronto 2010, which will be held on June 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency Toronto.

I know, I know. We’ve just wrapped up SES New Your 2010 and I’ve just started a comparison to Search Engine Strategies NYC 2004. But the search industry continues moving forward, even while we’re looking over our shoulders at where we’ve come from.

peter morville.jpg Morville, the president of Semantic Studios, is widely recognized as an authority on information architecture. He is the co-author of the recently published, Search Patterns: Design for Discovery, a practical guide for building effective search applications.

Morville is also the author of the best-selling books, Information Architecture for the World Wide Web: Designing Large-Scale Web Sites and Ambient Findability: What We Find Changes Who We Become. He also has consulted with AT&T, Harvard, IBM, Microsoft, the National Cancer Institute, Vodafone and Yahoo!

Morville is a co-founder and past president of the Information Architecture Institute and has served on several advisory boards and as a faculty member at the University of Michigan. His work has been featured in many publications including Business Week, The Economist, Fortune, and The Wall Street Journal.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to speak at the SES conferences because no matter how well tuned in I think I am to the latest search trends and issues, I still pick up much food for thought at these conferences,” said Morville in a press release. “I’m particularly looking forward to SES Toronto because it’s a little tamer than the other SES shows and provides a more intimate networking environment.”

Byron Gordon of SEO-PR interviewed Morville at SES Chicago 2009 about his latest book, Search Patterns. Check it out.

By the way, marketers are invited to submit a proposal for participating in SES Toronto. Speaker submissions close May 14. SES speaker guidelines and the form for submitting a proposal can be found on the website. For more information about SES Toronto 2010, visit: http://www.searchenginestrategies.com/toronto/

I should disclose that SES is a client of my agency. But trust me on the faculty member at the University of Michigan. It’s my alma mater. Go Blue!
