Maile Ohye, a Senior Developer Programs Engineer at Google, will be one of the keynote speakers at SES Toronto 2010.

Ohye earned a B.A. in Cognitive Science with a Computer Science emphasis from the University of California at Berkeley.
I recently interviewed Ohye at SES New York 2010 after she spoke at the session entitled, "From Real-Time Search to Dynamic Discovery." She discussed the advent of Google's real-time search.
Google debuted real-time search back in December of 2009. Ohye said Google is interested in delivering content to users that is relevant and in real time from a variety of sources. It's not just about microblogs or news information but finding content from anyone who wants to be a publisher and pushing it out in real time for users.
Ohye then listed the various sources that Google gets its real time content. This includes Twitter, Google News, Facebook, MySpace, and Google Buzz. She added that as Google opens up delivery of real time content, it will also work to ensure that the quality and relevancy is there to satisfy users.
Ohye mentioned that Google is capable of indexing its content in less than a minute. To constantly keep improving upon the content delivered, Google also uses various metrics that she called "happiness metrics" in order to determine if the real-time results were found to be helpful by users.
