Now, I've known for months that SES Chicago 2010 was being moved from it's traditional slot in December to October this year, but I was surprised at SES San Francisco last week to hear an industry veteran blurt out, "SES Chicago is being held in October!?!"
Greg Jarboe and Sally Falkow at SES Chicago 2009
Yep, it will be held in the same place -- the Hilton Chicago -- but in a whole new season: Autumn, also known as fall in American English. That's right, SES Chicago is being held Oct. 18-22 -- before Halloween -- instead of in mid-December -- after Thanksgiving.
Wow, imagine being in the Windy City before it becomes "The Chill," as rap musicians from the area refer to Chicago, Illinois. I may wear my Tommy Bahama shirt to "The Miami of Canada," as Mr. Burns referred to Chi-Town in an episode of The Simpsons. I may even enjoy visiting The Second City before it is trapped in the frozen central zone in the Ninth Circle of Hell.
Hey, I'm not making this up. Matt McGowan, Publisher and Head of US, Incisive Media, and Mike Grehan, VP, Global Content, Incisive Media, back me up in the video below.
But, enough talk about the weather. Let's look at the keynote speakers for SES Chicago 2010.
As Grehan said, Avinash Kaushik, author, blogger, and analytics evangelist for Google, will be giving the opening keynote. Here's a sample of what he has to say -- in case you didn't hear him speak at SES New York 2010.
Jeffrey W. Hayzlett, celebrity CMO, best selling author, and former Kodak CMO, will be giving the morning keynote on Day 2 of SES Chicago 2010. Here's a snippet of what he said at SES San Francisco 2010 to give you an idea of what he'll say in October.
But wait, there's more!
Maile Ohye, Senior Developer Programs Engineer, Google, will give the morning keynote on Day 3 of SES Chicago. Byron Gordon of SEO-PR interviewed Ohye after her keynote at SES Toronto 2010. Check it out.
So, it won't be frickin' freezing when you head to Chicagoland this year. And the topics tackled by the keynote speakers at SES Chicago 2010 will be hot, hot, hot.
Now, I should disclose that SES is a client of my agency. But trust me on the Chicago weather.
