Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products, is leaving behind search. She'll take on a new role within the company, as Google pushes more into location and local services, Bloomberg reports.
Mayer, who has helped design, develop, and evolve Google's search interface, has helped launch more than 100 features and products on Google.com, including, most recently, Instant. She has also worked on Gmail, Google News, Google Maps, Google Earth, and iGoogle.
"Marissa has made an amazing contribution on search over the last decade, and we're excited about her input in this new area in the decade ahead," Google said in a statement.
Mayer was the first female engineer hired at Google and one of their first 20 employees.
Udi Manber, vice president of engineering for Web search, will take over Mayer's search duties.
