Halloween is tomorrow, meaning searches for costume ideas on Google and Yahoo are hot this week (and have been growing since late August). Their lists of rising searches may give you a sneak preview of what you can expect to see at Halloween parties this weekend, and what you may want to avoid if you’re looking for some last minute ideas.
Top Halloween Costumes
According to Google, the most popular U.S. costumes this year are:
Hitwise also reported that Michael Jackson and Nicki Minaj are among the most popular celebrity costume searches, while more generic searches included:
Yahoo also checked in with their top five most popular costume queries:
Also of note, searches for Chilean miner costume spiked by 7,100 percent in the third week of October. Popular home-made costumes this year include scarecrows and hobos.
In the U.K., top costume searches included skeleton, zombie, Mario, and Buzz Lightyear.
Baby Costumes
According to Google, the most popular baby costumes this year are:
Hitwise added vampire, Tinkerbell, and Peter Pan for the babies, while top toddler searches were for cow, Strawberry Shortcake, and pink poodle.
Also, trending for the kids out trick-or-treating are Avatar, Lady Gaga, werewolves, and Strawberry Shortcake.
Dog Costumes
Even dogs will get in on the Halloween fun (and may even match the costumed babies. According to Google, expect to see:
One difference on Yahoo’s list is the presence of the Batman dog costume. Ewok, Slinky, Yoda, and Taco dog costumes round out their top five.
