Renowned Agitator Michael Moore Offers To Help WikiLeaks Founder

Film director Michael Moore has offered to help bail out Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, and provide him a server to continue hosting his controversial site, not because it is one of the top searched terms at Google this month – but because he sees the site as a necessary free speech forum, he wrote at Huffington Post.

In an article Moore wrote for the Huffington Post, he stated “So why is WikiLeaks, after performing such an important public service, under such vicious attack? Because they have outed and embarrassed those who have covered up the truth”

“We were taken to war in Iraq on a lie. Hundreds of thousands are now dead. Just imagine if the men who planned this war crime back in 2002 had had a WikiLeaks to deal with. They might not have been able to pull it off. The only reason they thought they could get away with it was because they had a guaranteed cloak of secrecy. That guarantee has now been ripped from them, and I hope they are never able to operate in secret again.”

WikiLeaks has been one of the top news stories throughout December. according to Google News searches.

The backlash against the publication of US cables detailing the government’s perception of other countries and other communications have been called treasonous by a number of politicians and servers hosting the site have dropped it causing it to jump to numerous servers. The company has also been dropped by MasterCard, Visa and Paypal causing them to have problems generating revenue.

Paypal has recently reinstated the WikiLeaks account.

Moore stated “I am publicly offering the assistance of my website, my servers, my domain names and anything else I can do to keep WikiLeaks alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars.”

The Associated Press reported “filmmakers Ken Loach and John Pilger and writer Jemima Kahn joined Moore in the contributing to Assange’s bail fund”, according to Moore..
