Star Wars Reference Hidden In Google AdWords Thank You Video

by ,  Comments

The Google AdWords team, who are celebrating 10 years of AdWords, sent this hilarious video out to advertisers yesterday in 43 different languages - the same number that the AdWords UI works in.

The video has been seen over one million times.

But, the more pressing question is -- how many of you caught the Star Wars reference to "a problem with the Thermal Exhaust Port"?

Google Adwords - Thank You from PostPanic on Vimeo.

For those wondering what the Thermal Exhaust Port actually is, it's the target area that the Rebel X-wing pilots have to aim for in order to destroy the Death Star.

"The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system."

Google AdWords' thank you video is particularly smart as it really plays on internet culture - drawing on the popular, almost timeless, FAIL meme and Star Wars briefing meme, which is continually getting remixed in hilarious ways to reflect current events.
