In a post on the Official Google Blog the company congratulated the auto industry on a strong start to the new year and linked to the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Interestingly, only Ford appeared in the top 10 searches for auto makes over the past 30 days.
The post did link to the mention that Chevrolet Volt was named Car of the Year. But the popularity of foreign cars cannot not be denied given these were search done in the United States.
The post showed search trends and a decent number were pulled to show Google's interest in the advertising dollar rich car industry. With Ford pulling their Superbowl spend in favor of online options, Google must want to grab as much of it as possible .
