Google Honors Jules Verne With Global Doodle
French-born author Jules Verne is being honored with an international Doodle today. The author of numerous works including Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873) was born on February 8th, 1828.
Verne wrote extensively “about space, air, and underwater travel before air travel and practical submarines were invented, and before practical means of space travel had been devised,” Wikipedia noted.
Verne is the third most translated author of all time – hence the international Doodle. Most Google Doodles are country or language specific, but his international appeal has this Doodle on all of Google’s country search pages.
The Doodle is interactive – the knob on the right moves the image seen through the port holes of the tribute to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.
