Amber MacArthur To Share Social Media Tips at SES Toronto 2011

Amber MacArthur will be the opening keynote speaker at SES Toronto 2011. Better known as Amber Mac, the Canadian television and netcasting personality will be sharing social media tips and tactics on Monday, June 13, which is Day 1 of the event.

MacArthur is a technology host, journalist, and strategist who writes a regular column for The Globe and Mail, Yahoo!Tech, American Express Open Forum, and other outlets.

She hosts a live TV show called Webnation on Toronto’s number one news station. And she has worked as a technology TV host on the popular how-to call-in show G4TechTV with tech guru Leo Laporte, who was a colleague of mine at Ziff-Davis in the 1990s.

MacArthur spearheaded two successful podcasts, net@night on the popular San Francisco TwiT.tv network and commandN.tv. Both shows, which reach approximately 100,000 viewers and listeners per week, have been featured in Wired magazine and have won a number of podcast awards.

She maintains the popular AmberMac.com blog and launched her book about how to use social media to grow a business, Power Friending, which was published by Portfolio/Penguin in 2010.

MacArthur currently manages a production and new media company, MGImedia. Her clients include Tony Robbins, Rogers, Discovery Channel, Microsoft, Canada Goose, and American Dental Association.

“Amber Mac is one of the most well known technology hosts and journalists in Canada, and we’re thrilled that she has agreed to share her social media tips and tactics with our SES Canadian community,” said Matt McGowan, Managing Director of Americas for Incisive Media, in a press release distributed this morning. “Just like in the U.S., Canada has experienced tremendous growth in the integration of social media into their marketing campaigns, and Amber is on top of this and the latest search marketing trends.”

In the release, MacArthur said, “I’m honored to be invited to present the SES Toronto opening keynote where I’ll be talking about ideas from my book ‘Power Friending’ and how marketers can use social media to build community and customer loyalty online.” She added, “I’m familiar with the very tech-savvy SES community, and they are always ready to incorporate the latest trends to get the most out of their marketing campaigns, so it should be a great time for all.”

The SES Toronto conference program runs all day Monday and Tuesday, June 13 and 14, as does the Expo Hall. Wednesday, June 15, is set aside for training workshops.

If you register for SES Toronto by this Friday, April 15, you can get a pre-agenda savings of up to $400.

Although SES Toronto is “specifically designed for Canadian marketers,” American marketers can also attend the search and social marketing event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Toronto. However, I strongly advise my American colleagues to put their cheeseburgers down and watch the YouTube video below before heading to “The Great White North” to ensure that you are familiar with Canadian customs and traditions.

I should disclose that SES is a client of my agency. But that doesn’t mean I’m a “hoser.”
